This is a picture of the “Energizer Bunny” of tuned GTRs. It’s a shot of a Nissan VR38 engine equipped with a P800 performance PKG from Switzer Performance. What makes this P800 special isn’t the fact that it was installed by our friends at Panda Performance in Dubai. Instead, what makes this GTR special is its longevity and dependability: over the past 3 years since its conversion, its owner has racked up over 97000 miles.
That would be an impressive show of reliability from a stock performance car, let alone one that’s been tuned to push out nearly 300 more hp than it came with from the factory! We’ve been banging the reliability drum for years here at Switzer Performance, most recently in yesterday’s “Time After Time” post, but also in Tym Switzer’s most recent “Tym’s $0.02″ posts about the Moscow Unlimited and the potential pitfalls of pushing the GTR’s factory hardware past its efficiency ratings. This P800, though, shows exactly the kind of reliability and “no expiration date” build-quality that Tym demands the crew at Switzer Performance strive for every day.
You can get a sense of Panda’s view on the matter, in their own words, below …
We have been working with Switzer Performance for the past 3 years building reliable, yet powerful GTRs for the middle east. Built to be driven daily on pump gas with the added advantage of being able to outrun just about every encounter on the road.
We recently came across a few pictures we had taken of one of our P800 builds over 2 years ago and decided to share them with you.
When this car came to our shop it had 2890 Miles on the ODO. 2 years later, after an insane amount of Daily driving, hauling kids and some track time, the car now boasts approximately 97,000 miles, and is still running strong. *touch wood* The only addition this car has to the standard P800 kit is a Switzer Performance Cooling package. The customer also opted to have his car custom tuned by us to squeeze every bit of power out of it reliably.
That is why we love the Switzer Performance Packages and their build quality. We wanted to share this particular build with you to highlight the reliability that is incorporated with the packages.
